Welcome to March, I hope this finds each of you well. I know many have been dealing with different little bugs, especially if you have kids, and hope all are on the way to feeling better.
Well we have four of our district meetings now behind us, and I have enjoyed seeing each of you as we travel. We still have District 2 and District 6 to finish up our spring swing. I hope you enjoyed the LifeShare program. And again a reminder to register for the upcoming convention in April and don’t forget about the golf tournament on Sunday April 9.
As you saw in last month’s edition, SB 1134, the Veterans burial bill, is in place and the eligibility was explained. Now we have a new issue in place, and that is a tax on funeral service. We have heard from many of you that this should not be included in the service tax. So we have available letters for you to send to your elected official and let them know how you feel. There are a few other bill we are watching, three of them are directed at the Funeral Board, and one is the Funeral Director language bill. We expressed or concerns and or dislike of this tax, as well as the other bills that effect or industy during our day at the capital. We will keep you all informed as to how this progresses.
I wanted to remind everyone also that CANA is hosting a Cremation Operations Certification Program March 31 on the campus of UCO. You can contact Jennifer Head at firstname.lastname@example.org or 312-245-1077 to make your reservation and if you have any questions about the program.
I hope each of you have a great beginning to the spring, and always know you can contact any of us if you have questions or concerns.
