Presidents Letter: October 2018
October is upon us with pumpkins popping up all over for decorations and the ever favorite pumpkin spice latte’, coffee, ice cream and whatever else pumpkin lovers try. Fall officially came in September, but with all the rain we have had for most of the State, I wonder when will the mowing season come to an end.
The Fall District meetings have come and go with good attendance. It is always good to see each one of you during the Fall and Spring meetings. The main information that was given out at the meetings was the change of the Association membership dues structure to accommodate more firm membership, but more importantly the increase of more individual membership. Also introduced at the Fall meeting were the annual convention/conference registration fees in April 2019 at the Hard Rock in Tulsa. The registration fees will help the Association to create a budget to bring in nationally known keynote speakers to help make a more interesting convention/conference each year.
The NFDA National Convention is being held this month in Salt Lake, Utah. For those attending may you be amazed what is offered to us Funeral Professionals by way of the vendors on the expo floor to the intriguing classes that were offered. Just being able to fellowship with others from across the nation is very rewarding for our professional development. If you OKFDA members ever have an opportunity to attend the NFDA National Convention/Expo, you should really try to attend at least one time. The next three National Conventions are Chicago in 2019, New Orleans in 2020, and Nashville in 2012. Maybe this will give you an opportunity to plan ahead for future attendance.
Always I will end asking to remember The Checker Flag Experience “Rev IT Up”
